Android ver. 4 or Ice Cream Sandwich OS has a reputation as a high end mobile devices OS. Google is trying to make android as market leading OS for smartphone and tablet pc. For this reason Samsung and Google produce Samsung Galaxy Nexus with built in ICS. Other vendors also adapting this ICS OS for their mobile devices. One of them is Sony Erricson.

Sony Erricson is preparing an upgrade for their Android Gingerbread based, Sony Erricson Xperia to Android Ice Cream Sandwich. Anyway Android ICS is optimized for Samsung high end mobile devices like Galaxy Nexus. While Sony Erricson trying to make an upgrade, recently they are having difficulties to upgrade Android Gingerbread to ICS as this OS is optimized to be use with Texas Instrument for the OMAP chip.

Sonny Erricson with Xperia is using Qualcomm MSM8255 chipset so they are planning to change few hardware of it to work with ICS OS. Sony Ericsson engineers are required to change some parts of the ICS source code and coupled with the source code of Sony Ericsson as well as trying to eliminate some problems that may arise.

Sony Erricson also must make sure that all features and functions of the hardware of the phone can work well as a camera, bluetooth, WiFi, GPS, sensors, drivers, and others. Once everything is tested then the next stage is to receive official certification, and for Sony Ericsson they explain that to products launched globally they need a certification at least up to 80 countries.

So for Sony Erricson Xperia user should be patience to enjoying new Android OS as we know that many amazing features are available in ICS like face recognizing and many more.
