In 2012, the world will not hear the name Sony Ericsson again. On October 27, 2011, Sony announced that it would acquire Ericsson's stake in Sony Ericsson for €1.05 billion ($1.47 billion), making the mobile handset business a wholly owned subsidiary of Sony. The transaction's completion is expected to occur in January 2012.  At their keynote at the 2012 Consumer Electronics Show, Sony's Kaz Hirai announced that Sony Ericsson would now be known simply as Sony Mobile Communications. In the future, a mobile device division directly under the Sony and no longer use the name of Sony Ericsson, but only "Sony" only. Earlier this year, precisely at the International Consumer Electronic Show (CES) 2012, Sony finally introduced their first smartphone. This smartphone named Sony Xperia S.

Sony Xperia S comes with the Android operating system. Unfortunately, these devices are still not using the latest Android operating system, Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS). Xperia S still use Android version 2.3 or Gingerbread. However, Sony ensures that the Ginger bread can be updated to ICS.

Sony Xperia S comes with high specification that is very capable. Sony Xperia S uses Qualcomm processor 1.5 GHz Dual-Core. In addition, Sony's first smartphone will use Reality Display screen measuring 4.3 inches which has been equipped with mobile technology BRAVIA Engine HD resolution (1280 x 720).

This smartphone is equipped with a camera 12 megapixel Exmor R. berteknologikan In addition, the camera in the smartphone has a feature Fastest Capture to take a picture directly in just 1.5 seconds from standby mode. Sony Xperia S will begin shipping in the first quarter of this year. There will be two models for this smartphone, which is 16 GB and 32 GB.
