It has recently been certified as the “World’s Toughest Phone” by none other than the people at the Guinness World Records.

The Sonim XP3300 Force ultra-rugged cell phone was recently made to undergo an extreme drop test. It was dropped into a concrete surface 25 meters high, a height taller than a ten-story building. The drop test was witnessed by independent judges from Guinness World Records. After the drop test, the judges confirmed that the phone was still working, able to make calls as well as send text messages. Considering that the previous record was a drop at a height of 3.25 meters, the Sonim XP3300 Force is quite a tough phone indeed.

Aside from being tough, the Sonim XP3300 Force is also waterproof for a depth of up to 2 meters, shock resistant for up to 4G forces and able to withstand a temperature range of -20 degrees Celsius to 55 degrees Celsius. This ultra-rugged mobile phone comes with a 2? display, a 2MP camera, FM radio, GPS and Bluetooth support and comes with a waterproof headset. It is available at Sonim Technologies for US$499.
