A Swedish company has developed a charger for mobile phones, cameras, and GPS devices with only the help of a small amount of water. The portable charger is named PowerTrekkis designed specifically for people who spend time away from power and have no access to electricity power source. It is suitable for the traveler and the people who work in locations far from the center of power.
PowerTrekk only need one tablespoon of water and he can produce the battery for 10 hours. How could that happen? This product works through a chemical reaction. Water, which is the energy source of this charger, reacts with a "composition" of this special product, sodium silicide, to produce hydrogen gas. For information, PowerTrekk is the first commercial product that uses sodium silicide.
This product is compatible with all devices that have USB ports. PowerTrekk can be filled with all kinds of water, including sea water or any water that are not mixed with mud or other sediment.
Although able to walk only with the power of water, this product is still accompanied by a portable battery slot that can be used as a charger or labor to install lights. Users can have between two types of power, 1kW or 3kW.
PowerTrekk first exhibited last year at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The latest version on display at the Consumer Electronic Show (CES) which is currently underway in Las Vegas.
These unique products, PowerTrekk, will be available in the European market in May or June this 2012 with price at € 199 and the replacement of sodium batteries for € 2.
